Overview

The problem it solves

Viewport Resizer lets you change the size of the page you are working on without leaving it. Set an exact width and height, jump to a common desktop, tablet, or mobile size, and save the dimensions you keep coming back to. It is a small tool for a repetitive task: checking that a layout still holds up at the sizes your users actually have.

Test layouts without leaving the page — built to fit into an existing debugging workflow rather than replace it.

Capabilities

What it does

Feature areas reflect the extension's intended scope. Individual capabilities are refined as the tool develops.
  • Custom dimensions

Enter an exact width and height when you need to reproduce a specific reported size.

  • Reusable presets

Save the viewport sizes you test most often and return to them in one click.

  • Common device sizes

Start from familiar desktop, tablet, and mobile dimensions instead of guessing.

  • Responsive layout checks

Watch breakpoints, grids, and navigation patterns respond as the viewport changes.

  • Quick switching

Move between saved sizes without reloading the page or losing your place.

  • Keyboard-friendly

Adjust and cycle through presets without reaching for the mouse.

How It Helps

Realistic developer scenarios

These are the kinds of situations the extension is designed around — not guarantees about what it will find.

Reproducing a reported layout bug

A bug is filed at a specific width. Set that exact viewport and see the broken layout for yourself instead of guessing at the cause.

Checking a breakpoint change

Step through the sizes around a breakpoint to confirm the transition happens where you intended and nothing overflows in between.

Reviewing a responsive component

Cycle through your saved presets to confirm a new component behaves at every size your team supports.

Privacy

How your data is handled

Viewport Resizer changes how a page is displayed in your own browser. It is designed to operate locally and to avoid collecting information about the pages you test.

  • Viewport presets are stored locally for your own use.
  • The extension does not require an account or a network connection to resize a page.
  • No page content or browsing history is collected.
  • Any future change to data handling will be documented on this page before release.
